What is Aerial Yoga?

Aerial Yoga is a style of yoga where the postures are done with the support of/inside of a silk Aerial Hammock. You still need a yoga mat for this class. Please, bring your own yoga mat to class as we are currently not offering mat rentals.
The hammocks are securely attached to a reliable structure in the ceiling and allow for a great support in inversions as well as more therapeutic postures.

Watch this quick video about what Aerial Yoga has to offer.

What Class is Right for me?

Beginner classes are offered where students can learn the basic aerial wraps and hammock safety, and explore a thoughtful sequence of poses to get them comfortable in the hammock. These classes are great for those brand new to Aerial Yoga and those who have taken a few classes, but are still learning.

Aerial Yoga Flow classes are offered for those ready to try a bit more advanced poses and get upside-down, as well as explore extra swinging and more powerful movements. Please, attend 5-10 Beginner Aerial Yoga classes prior to attending Aerial Yoga 2 class to make sure you’re comfortable with basic wraps, terminology and hammock safety.

Floating Yin Yoga. This class combines the deep tissue stretching of the Yin Yoga tradition with the support of the Aerial Yoga hammock.  The hammocks are set up lower to the ground for this class compare to traditional Aerial Yoga classes, which makes it easier to get in and out of the fabric. The focus of this practice is on working with more plastic tissues of the body – tendons, ligaments, joint capsules and fascia, rather than muscles of our body (elastic tissues).
Yin Yoga postures are held longer (3-5 minutes) and are usually performed in a seated, supine or prone (laying on your back or stomach) positions inside the hammock or using it for support. Floating Yin Yoga is a very beginner friendly practice and can be a wonderful place to start if you feel a bit fearful of getting in the air or just enjoy a slower practice with deeper stretches.

Minimum age for our Aerial Yoga Classes is 16 yo.
